Nawfal Al Jourani
Chief Officer, Dubai Maritime Cluster Office

Mr Al Jourani runs the Dubai Maritime Cluster Office (DMCO), which is established in response to the Dubai government’s efforts to transform the local maritime sector into one of the world’s most comprehensive and competitive maritime clusters. Mr Al Jourani leads DMCO to maintain the leadership position Dubai enjoys in the region as the number one maritime destination, and create a strong competitive edge to Dubai maritime product offering in its various forms.

Mr Al Jourani has earned a bachelor degree in English language and literature, a master’s degree in English applied linguistics, and is currently working on his PhD in business management. He has translated, from English to Arabic, six books for MacGraw-Hill publishing.

Sanjay Bhatia
Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust

Sanjay Bhatia is a Mechanical Engineer and an MBA from Southern Cross University, Australia.  He is a Maharashtra Cadre IAS Officer with 31 years' experience in serving at various senior levels in Government of India and Government of Maharashtra.  He is presently working as Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust. 

He has held a number of important portfolios like Vice Chairman & Managing Director, CIDCO (Development of New towns, Airport, METRO), Commissioner, Sales Tax, Chairman, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, etc. and has brought transparency reforms in  management and HR development in all these organisations with the help of meditation techniques.  He has been awarded a number of awards like 'Ananya' Award for Fighting against corruption, E-Governance Awards, Rajiv Gandhi Gatiman Prashashan and Maha Shilpkar Award.

Aleksandr Mikhailov
Head of Lab (Power Plants, Machinery & Systems Installation & Dismantling Technologies) JSC SSTC

Aleksandr Mikhailov, head of Laboratory (Power Plants, Machinery and Systems Installation and Dismantling Technologies) at JSC “Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Technology Center” (JSC SSTC), graduated from the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping (former Saint-Petersburg State University of Water Transport) in 2000. Presented a number of articles and reports in reputed journals and international conferences.

 

Aleksei Vasilev
Head of Lab (Shipbuilding Technology), JSC SSTC

Aleksei Vasilev, head of Laboratory (Shipbuilding Technology) at JSC “Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Technology Center” (JSC SSTC), Candidate of Engineering. Graduated from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute in 1984. Specializes in ship part fabrication technologies, ship hull assembling and welding. Presented a number of articles and reports in reputed journals and international conferences.

 

Manav Gandhi
Sr Manager - Business Development & Sales - Siemens

Manav Gandhi has been with Siemens for almost nine years, first as a marketing manager, focused on the marine and shipbuilding sectors. In 2015, he became a senior manager looking after business development and sales in the same industry. As such, he propogates new electrical and electronics technology and concepts for vessels.

Prior to joining Siemens, Mr. Gandhi was Deputy Director, NTG (Kochi), for the Indian Navy, based in Kerala. Among other things, he was a team leader for reliability and maintainability evaluation for indigenous sonar development projects and induction programs.

Mr. Gandhi earned a PGCBA in General Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a B.E. in Electronics and Telecom from North Maharashtra University. 

Prasad P. Sawant
CEO, Buoyancy Consultants

Mr. Prasad P. Sawant is the CEO of Buoyancy Consultants & Engineering LLP. Since taking over in the organization his operational execution is supplemented by this extensive work handling International projects in various countries. He has worked across design engineering, production, operations and software verticals.

R. Srinivas
Principal Surveyor & Associate Vice President, IRS

As Principal Surveyor and Associate Vice President at Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), Mr. Srinivas specialises in control and automation systems, system integration and failure mode effect analysis.

Mr. Srinivas has more than 34 years experience. He spent 13 years in shipbuilding and was in charge of installation, commissioning and testing of electrical, control, automation, navigational and communications systems on board. He spent another 12 years in ship design and was involved in the preparation of class drawings, production drawings and also headed various consultancy projects for  shipyards and ports in  automation, networking & VTMS.

Presently he is heading the electrical and control systems department in IRS plan approval division and is an IRS member in IACS Cyber Systems Panel and in Joint Industry Working Group on cyber systems. 

Capt Anoop Sharma
Chairman, INSA

Capt Anoop Kumar Sharma leads the Indian National Shipowners' Association (INSA). Also, Capt Anoop Kumar Sharma has been Chairman and Managing Director at The Shipping Corporation of India Limited since September 12, 2016 and has been its Director of T&OS since June 1, 2017.

Capt Sharma served as the Managing Director of Essar Shipping Limited (formerly Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics Limited) from November 2015 to September 9, 2016. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Sea Transportation Business/Shipping Business at Essar Shipping Limited (formerly, Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics Limited) since 2008.

He served as the CEO of Essar Shipping Limited (formerly, Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics Limited) from May 22, 2014 to October 31, 2015. He has been associated with Essar since 2008. He has a rich experience spanning over 28 years at Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) in technical, operations, purchase/contracts, commercial, business development etc.

He started his career as a Cadet with SCI and served as its Senior Vice President of Chartering, where he formulated and implemented a comprehensive strategy to explore global business opportunities for various type of vessels i.e. tankers, bulk carriers and containers.

Capt Sharma served as Whole Time Director at Essar Shipping Limited from May 9, 2011 to October 31, 2015. He served as a Whole Time Director of Essar Ports Limited since May 9, 2011.He has been Director at The Shipping Corporation of India Limited since September 12, 2016. He has been Members Board at The North of England Protecting and Indemnity Association Limited since November 22, 2016.

Ramesh Prabhu
Senior Manager, Small Medium Marine (SMM) Business, Yanmar India Pvt Ltd.

Studied Bachelor of Engineering (Production Engineering) in PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, INDIA (1997-2001) before proceeding to National University of Singapore (NUS) for Master of Science (Industrial & Systems Engineering) between 2002-2004. Completed a research project on Business Process Analysis of Design Chain Management in SIMTech, Singapore in Collaboration with Philips Electronics, Singapore and submitted 2 research papers for International Conference on Concurrent Enterprising, Spain in 2004. 

Worked in Mercury Marine, Singapore for about 3.5 years handling applications support & business development for South Asia region before moving into Yanmar Asia, Singapore to take up core applications/ technical support role for 3 years. Returned to India for good and joined Yanmar again in 2012 and continue to work with them till now taking care of overall marine high speed diesel (HSD) business in India as Senior Manager (business unit head for the country). Supporting Yanmar Asia, Singapore to develop HSD marine business in Middle East region as required.

Sailesh Bhatia

Sailesh Bhatia has been Managing Director of Bhatia Shipping Pvt Ltd for 26 years. He is also the most immediate past president of AMTOI – the Association of Multimodal Transport Operators.

Rune Nygaard
Business Manager, Wilhelmsen Ships Service

A Chemical Engineer from school, Rune Nygaard has worked with water treatment and process optimization for over 20 years. He has been with Wilhelmsen since 2009 where he is responsible for the three solution areas Oil, Cleaning and Water Solutions. Currently, he is combined as the Business Manager for Water Solutions heading up Wilhelmsen Ships Service's first digital solution project that is linked to Boiler Water monitoring and treatment. This is a solution that automate the process of testing and dosing chemicals to the boiler waster for asset protection as well as transmitting the results to shore for technical departments review and action if required.

Alexandre Picca
Area Sales Manager – Asia & Eastern Europe, KRAL

Mr. Alexandre Picca is in charge of Asia and Eastern Europe for the Flow Measurement Business Unit at the global headquarters of KRAL AG in Western Austria - a leading provider of Flow meters and Flow Measurement Solutions in the
Marine industry for more than 40 years. He is responsible for more than 10 distributors in 10 different countries, where he trains them about the latest Marine technological applications and regulations, such as the EU-MRV and IMO-DCS. 

With an academic technical background, Alexandre has acquired a double Master degree of Science (double M.Sc.) from the Philipps University of Marburg in Germany and the French Grande Ecole INSEEC Business School in 2012.

Amongst projects and symposia, his experience in the Marine has led him to take part in “The Third International Green Marine Summit” in Shanghai, where he showcased the latest KRAL Marine applications. Besides, Alexandre hosted in May 2017 the conference: “Accurate Fuel Measurement & Best Practise in the Marine Industry regarding the EU-MRV and IMO-DCS” in Turkey.

Along those lines, he has been working since 2015 on a pivotal KRAL project for the Marine Industry: to improve the use of error propagation for ship owners and charterers, in relation with the EU-MRV and IMO-DCS. Additionally, he has published articles online and in specialised magazines about flow measurement, diesel engines, the marine industry, and error propagation.
