Shri Madhu S Nair took over as the Chairman & Managing Director of Cochin Shipyard on January 01, 2016. He has more than 30 years of professional experience with Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) since joining as Executive Trainee in June 1988 in the entire gamut of shipyard management. Under his leadership, CSL became a listed company after a very successful Initial Public Offer.
He holds a degree in Bachelor of Technology (Naval Architecture and Ship Building) from Cochin University of Science & Technology in first-class and Masters in Engineering (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) from Osaka University, Japan. He is trained in shipbuilding systems at IHI Shipyard at Kure, Japan and undergone JICA Specialized training at Overseas Vocational Training Centre (OVTA), Tokyo and Osaka International Centre, Osaka, Japan and did research in Joining & Welding Research Institute, during Masters in Engineering at Osaka University, Japan. He is a member of various Professional bodies including The Royal Institution of Naval Architects, UK (RINA), Institution of Naval Architects, India. He is a strong believer power of people and the "people first policy" conceived by him is aimed at steering CSL into a knowledge organization.
CSL is undertaking two major expansion projects worth Rs.2,769 crores. Also, CSL is making a foray into the Inland waterways transport vessel segment by forming a Joint Venture Company, at Kolkata. CSL has allied with the Major Port Trusts in India, viz. Mumbai Port Trust and Kolkata Port Trust for developing and operating Ship Repair ecosystems in those port trusts. CSL is also establishing a unit at Port Blair.
Rear Admiral Shekhar Mital

An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, Mittal has held various senior positions in the Navy. He worked with the Indian Navy for over 33 years in various key positions and handled technical operations, maintenance, design, procurement and construction of new ships and submarines, he was involved in policy formulation and their execution in 'shipbuilding and repair domain' for over two decades.
Dealing with multiple mega contracts at MOD involving the induction of state of the art weapon, electronic and engineering systems and ships from a large number of foreign companies, he has headed cross-functional teams for over two decades and excelled in heading independent operations. An expert in techno-commercial negotiations and running units/ projects as independent profit centres, his strong strategic thinking, leadership skills and financial acumen abilities are his strong aces.
As CMD Goa shipyard Ltd, he applied financial re-engineering and major policy changes in the yard and brought in a major turn around within a year. He is a regular speaker at various national/international conferences on shipbuilding and leadership domain.
An engineering graduate from NIT & M.Tech from IIT (KGP) in Electronics and Telecommunication, he is an alumnus of NDC and has done MPhil in defence strategic studies. He was awarded 'distinguished alumnus' award by IIT Kharagpur in 2016 and Nau Sena Medal by President of India for distinguished service.
Captain Sarabjeet S Parmar
Executive Director, National Maritime Foundation
An alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA) Kharakwasla and Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) Wellington, Capt Parmar was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 87. The officer is a Seeking pilot who has commanded INS Bedi, INS Sharda and INAS 330.
A member of the XI Indian Antarctic Summer Expedition in 1991, he has attended the South Asia Regional Governance and Management Defence Course Conducted by the British Government at Colombo in 2005. He represented the Indian Navy in the first international HOSTAC (helicopter operations from ships other than aircraft carriers) conference held at Norfolk, the USA in 2008.
Having served as Joint Director Naval Plans in Directorate of Naval Planning at IHQ MoD (Navy) and also been Directing Staff at Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, he was also a Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi from (Sep 2010 -July 2014). He has written on maritime security aspects and presented papers at various national and international conferences. Post IDSA he was Director (Strategy) in the Directorate of Strategy Concepts and Transformation at IHQ MoD (Navy) (Jul 2014 -Apr 2016), whereas part of the core team revised Indian Navy’s unclassified maritime security strategy document and doctrine.
As Director of Strategic Maritime Assessment and Doctrine Development (Apr 2016- Apr 2018), he carried out regional maritime assessments and completed the doctrine development plan. He completed his B.Sc. from JNU Delhi & M.Sc (defence & Strategic Studies ) from Madras University and is currently pursuing PhD at Mumbai University.
MR. G. Janakiraman
CEO, Vik-Sandvik and Secretary, Indian MarineDesigners Association ( IMDA)
He is currently the CEO Vik-Sandvik and Secretary, Indian Marine Designers Association ( IMDA). Mr Janakiraman completed his master's degree from KREC Mangalore and has 39 years of Industry experience.
He started his career with National Institute of Oceanography with their research vessels fleet. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Ship Design company Vik-Sandvik Design India.
In his long years of career, he has led the core design of modern-day research vessels of Sagar Nidhi, Samudra Ratnakar, Sindhu Sadhana, In the 12 years he has been with Vik-Sandvik, he has been the driving force for the Naval Auxiliary Vessels Designs of TDV, OSS, DSV, LSV and ASWC for Indian Navy undertaken by Vik-Sandvik.
He has been instrumental in bringing the Indian Ship Design companies under a common platform of Indian Marine Designers Association ( IMDA).
MS. Sanjam Gupta

Sanjam Sahi Gupta is Director Sitara Shipping Ltd. and an advocate for diversity in the Maritime Industry and a founder member of WISTA India and Board Member of WISTA International. She's also a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the World Maritime University.
The Sailor Today Magazine awarded her for making WISTA India the 'Most Promising Association in 2013'. In 2014 the International Women's' Leadership Forum awarded her "Leading Woman in Shipping Business" and was also awarded in 2014 by SPJIMR Business school as Outstanding Family Business. As an Ambassador of Sailor Society in India she's committed to seafarers welfare and she was a major force in bringing out the ‘Diversity Handbook’ in 2018 along with ISWAN and Anglo-Eastern.
In May 2018, she was the recipient of the Sandvik Gender Award –for her outstanding contribution and commitment to gender equality. As part of her award, she conducted India's first survey for gathering data on women in maritime, using the SHE Index of Norway for the employer survey. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals awarded her “Woman of the Year 2019” in March 2019.
In June 2019 she was invited as part of a High-Level panel initiative by The Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg for a Sustainable Ocean Economy, comprising a group of world leaders from coastal states committed to ocean action in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. This panel will advise 14 heads of government across the world that will drive the transition to a new and sustainable economy for a healthier and wealthier planet. Being invited by the IMO to speak at various panels and conferences, she has been acknowledged for her role as a change-maker -advocating diversity and sustainable shipping.
MR. Sanjay Bhatia IAS

Shri Sanjay Bhatia assumed charge as Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust from 13th April 2016.
He is a Mechanical Engineer and an MBA from Southern Cross University, Australia. He is a Maharashtra Cadre IAS Officer in the rank of Secretary, Government of India. He is a preceptor of Heartfulness (Sahaj Marg) Meditation and has been practising meditation for the last seventeen years.
He has 33 years experience in serving at various senior levels in Government of India and Government of Maharashtra. He has held several important portfolios like Vice Chairman & Managing Director, CIDCO (Development of New towns, Airport, METRO), Commissioner, Sales Tax, Chairman, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, etc.
He has brought transparency reforms in management and HR development in all these organisations with the help of meditation techniques. He has been awarded several awards like 'Ananya Award’ for Fighting against corruption, E-Governance Awards, Rajiv Gandhi Gatiman Prashashan and Maha Shilpkar Award.
MR. Unmesh Abhyankar

Captain Unmesh Abhyankar brings to the table over three decades of experience in the maritime industry. He is currently joint president, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZL), and heads the chief executive officer’s office as well.
Before this, Captain Abhyankar was CEO of Mundra port where he spearheaded the port’s stellar performance in cargo handling. During his tenure, Mundra port leapfrogged from being the tenth largest port in 2009 to the largest commercial port in India, surpassing the major ports.
An avid propagator of technology adoption, he has personally supervised automation, mechanisation and innovation projects at Mundra port and is focused on the use of technology for easier decision making.
He has pioneered many firsts in the country (and in the port sector) such as the development and operation of long-haul railway rakes (Python), mechanised handling of fertilisers and state-of-the-art steelyards. He has an inherent ability to understand operations in depth and he is able to ease operational processes, resulting in increased productivity.
In recognition of his contribution to the marine industry, he won the title of AMA-Metro Chem Outstanding Manager of the Year, 2013. He has also been awarded the Shipping and Port Personality of the Year award at Gujarat Junction, 2015.
MR. Rajiv Agarwal

Mr Rajiv Agarwal is the CEO and Managing Director of Essar Ports Ltd, one of the largest private port companies in the country.
Mr Agarwal is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of experience and has held the leadership positions in industries like Ports, Shipping, Telecom, Retail and Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO). He became MD and CEO of Essar Shipping, Ports & Logistics Limited in 2010. He Joined Essar Group in 1997 as Chief Operating Officer in Essar Telecom and was the Executive Director of Essar Shipping Limited (ESL) from 1998-2002.
He has been instrumental in setting up several startup companies as CEO like The MobileStore Limited, Telecom Towers and Infrastructure Limited and Aegis Communications. He has been a key member of several industry committees like Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FICCI), The Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and SUPERBRANDS for several years.
He is recipient of Maritime Personality of the Year’ 17 at Gujarat Star Awards, Port Personality of the Year’ 17 at Maritime & Logistics Awards and has also been conferred with Maritime Standard Excellence Award’ 16 in Dubai for his contributions to maritime Sector. In the past, he has also won the CEO of the Year Award in 2009 at Asia Retail Congress and was among the finalists for Asia Business Leadership Awards, 2015 by CNBC.
MR. Sudhir Kanvinde

Mr Sudhir Kanvinde is a highly experienced professional with over 25+ years of IT experience, which includes 15+ years of ERP, ITS and ITCS experience in all stages of implementation and O&M. He has completed several end-to-end implementations. He has extensive experience in Toll Management Software (TMS) development, Port Community System, Intelligent Tunnel Control Systems (ITCS), SAP Technical, operations management, vendor management, methodology/process development, staff leadership, consulting, mentoring, customer relations and cross-functional team leadership.
He has expertise in executing complex multi-site projects handling data centre, planning ITS ( Intelligent Transport System), business process optimization. He has handled projects in Industries such as Construction, Pharma, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Transportation, Service Ind, Financial Services and publishing in various capacities from Consultant Sr. Consultant to Project and Program Management.
On the Infrastructure front, he has developed performance metrics on key applications, measured these periodically and also provided leadership around tools to help measure these metrics, SLA management, Expectation Management & Change Management. Expertise also includes Research, explore and support technical solutions for efficiency, reduction in infrastructure and communication costs.
